Hello and thank you for visiting my website.

I'm a Lincoln-based qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with a passion for helping children, young people and adults make sense of things, develop more personal resilience and lead happier lives.

For more than ten years I have worked therapeutically with children, young people and adults in a variety of areas (London, Nottingham, Barnsley and Lincolnshire) and have supported individuals, children and families from different backgrounds, needs and life experiences. All these experiences coupled with highly diverse personal experiences enable me to keep open-minded and adaptable and work cross-culturally.

If you are wondering what psychotherapy is and does, I can tell you that its core aim is to create a weekly consistent, warm, confidential and non-judgemental space that helps young and adult clients become, over time, psychologically and emotionally more integrated as a result of working things out within a boundaried therapeutic relationship. So as young and adult clients start to benefit from their weekly sessions they begin to feel more secure in themselves and their abilities and relationships - new and positive changes become possible.

Although I have some online presence where I've shared matters personal to me (e.g. a published essay in a collection of poems and personal essays written by black and mixed-race women), I rarely talk about myself in therapy sessions as my focus lies on my clients and their needs.

As I work with different clients and a variety of concerns and needs, as an integrative psychotherapist I use a combination of psychotherapy theories and creative interventions to match my clients' developmental, psychological and individual needs.

These are the therapy modalities I combine in my private practice:

  • Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling

  • Attachment-based Psychotherapy

  • Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

  • Humanistic Psychotherapy

  • Brain- and Trauma-informed Theories (e.g. NMT by Dr Bruce Perry)

  • Social Neuroscience (e.g. Affect Regulation Theory and Polyvagal Theory)

  • EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy)

What are my qualifications, certifications and registrations?

  • Masters in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling (Terapia and Middlesex University)

  • Certificate in the Foundations of Counselling and Psychotherapy (CCPE)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma (Lindum College)

  • Graduate Certificate in Psychology (London Metropolitan University)

Current Sabbatical Break from Clinical Practice

Please note that I am closing my practice for four months from August 6th 2021 till early December 2021 due to maternity leave.

As this break in practice is deemed a sabbatical period by the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), you won't be able to find me on the UKCP website (or on the Counselling Directory or the BAATN directory) as my profile and registration with this professional body will remain dormant till my return to work in December 2021.
